Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences

B.S. Chemical Engineering, California Institute of Technology, 2024

Virginia Canestraight received her BS in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology. There, she worked with Prof. Jonas Peters studying organometallic photocatalysis and mass-transport effects on electrochemical CO2 reduction. During her senior year, she worked for Captura performing first-principles and numerical scaling analysis for direct ocean carbon capture. Virginia is now working with Zack to develop moderate-temperature electrochemical reactors and reactions. She is supported by the Hertz Foundation and the National Science Foundation GRFP. When not thinking about decarbonizing the chemical industry, Virginia enjoys social dancing, textile crafts, and spending time outside.
