B.S. Chemistry, Columbia University, 2025
Clara Cheng received her B.A. with Honors in Chemistry from Columbia University in New York. There, she worked with Professor Colin Nuckolls on synthesizing novel materials by incorporating perylene diimide units into helicene frameworks, with a focus on understanding their chiroptical properties. Prior to her time in the Nuckolls lab, Clara worked at the USDA, where she researched sustainable methods for polymer synthesis, converting waste grease into antibacterial polymers. Outside the lab, Clara enjoys training for triathlons, trying new recipes, and rowing on the Charles River.
